The Longview Assisted Living Residence Holds Annual Safety and Wellness Fair focuses on fall prevention, fire safety, healthy living, and more!

The Longview Assisted Living Residence at Christian Health Care Center (CHCC) in Wyckoff recently held its 5th Annual Safety and Wellness Fair for residents and their families. Approximately eighty residents and family members attended the successful event that featured 15 booths that provided a broad scope of information related to senior health and safety, including fall prevention, how to prevent identity theft, Healthy Living Club, advanced care planning, the importance of keeping your brain active, and fire safety. Many of the booths offered hands-on learning and giveaways. This event was kicked off five years ago for residents of Heritage Manor Nursing Home and Southgate behavior-management unit. It was so successful in the long-term care programs that the decision was made to hold a similar event at Longview with topics tailored to that population’s specific needs.

“I really enjoyed myself,” said Longview resident Betty Bellesheim. “I learned a lot and enjoyed the goodies!”

“The Longview staff prides themselves on providing person-centered services and surroundings that complement and enhance healthy living as well as quality of life for our senior residents, and the Safety and Wellness Fair is a good example of this,” said Pamela Rooney, CALA, CTRS, ADC, Longview Administrator.
