Christian Health Care Center (CHCC) in Wyckoff collected items donated by CHCC employees during the CHCC Outreach Team’s fourth annual Toys for Tots campaign. Paramus Detective James Teehan picked up donations from CHCC, whose employees gathered enough toys to fill an ambulance. Outreach team members Cheryl Daniel and Kati Rosario, accompanied by Marketing Associate Erin Groenewal, went to the Closter Fire Department on December 17, 2014, to help sort the toys and prepare them for distribution to different charities, churches, and the US military. The National Guard was also in attendance. Toys were sorted by gender and age range, and then packed in bags to be delivered to families and children in need. Bags were loaded into big military trucks for further delivery.
The CHCC Outreach Team is one of several service-excellence teams at CHCC. Its mission is to serve CHCC, as well as our neighbors in the local and surrounding areas. Through its relationship with the public, partnerships with local agencies, and with help from employees, the team strives to offer support and services, volunteers its time, and assists other organizations with their outreach initiatives. The team participates in and sponsors community events, coordinates drives for both tangible and monetary donations to assist areas and individuals in need, and seeks opportunities to fund raise for specific causes and/or disasters.
“The 2014 Toy Drive was our biggest yet,” said Detective Teehan. “We were able to collect more toys than ever this year because of amazing people like those at Christian Health Care Center. The amount of toys we received from Christian Health Care Center far exceeded our hopes.”
The toys collected were distributed to Shelter Our Sisters in Hackensack, Tomorrow’s Childrens Institute at Hackensack University Medical Center, Wounded Warriors Project, and other local children’s hospitals.
