On December 22, 2014, staff from the Wyckoff Family YMCA visited Christian Health Care Center (CHCC) in Wyckoff to drop off specially hand-crafted placemats for Hillcrest Residence and Christian Health Care Adult Day Services of Wyckoff. The placemats were made by the Wyckoff Family YMCA children’s department. The delivery was followed up by a gift of Christmas cards distributed at The Longview Assisted Living Residence.
“The residents of Hillcrest always enjoy interactions with the younger generations, whether it be in person or a through a written exchange,” said Mary Mariconda, CTRS, Hillcrest Residence Director/Christian Health Care Adult Day Services of Wyckoff Administrator. “The placemats were a great way to say Merry Christmas in a creative, fun way.”
CHCC is also proud to partner with the Wyckoff Family YMCA in its Care Conversations Series, CHCC’s on-site Child Day Care Center, as well as the distribution of upcoming Valentine’s Day cards. During the Care Conversations series, professionals from CHCC and other professionals from the community were given the opportunity to share their expertise on a variety of timely topics, including understanding Medicare, Medicaid, and veteran’s benefits; Power of Attorney and Guardianship; Elder Law and Estate Planning; and Spousal Asset Protection. There were six very well-received programs in the series that ended in June, 2014. Due to its demand, a second lecture series is being offered this year. “Coping in a Changing World … Coping with Loss and Change” is being held from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, January 13, 2015 (Weather date is Tuesday, January 20, 2015), at the Wyckoff YMCA, Lower Level, 691 Wyckoff Ave., in Wyckoff. Two additional lecture series are going to be held in March and May. “Helping Your Teens Cope in a Changing World” will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 (Inclement weather date: Thursday, March 12, 2015), and “From Toddlers to ‘Tweens: Helping Your Child Cope in a Changing World” will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 (Inclement weather date: Thursday, May 14, 2015).
Also present on CHCC’s campus is the Wyckoff Child Day Care Center located in ground-level of The Longview Assisted Living Residence. The Child Day Care Center is managed by the Wyckoff Family YMCA and is open to CHCC employees and to community members. CHCC and the Wyckoff Family YMCA continue their partnership to better the community and helped to spread some holiday cheer this season.
“The Wyckoff Family YMCA and Christian Health Care Center have a long history of sharing tremendous values together to serve our community,” said Douglas A. Struyk, CPA, LNHA, CHCC President and CEO. “We look forward to developing new ways for our two organizations to continue to provide valuable resources to the community.”
CHCC provides a broad continuum of high-quality, compassionate care, offering superior senior-life, short-term rehab, and mental-health services. As a non-profit organization, we deliver care to our community based upon the Christian principles on which we were founded more than a century ago.
