When Ellsworth Whiteman was asked to join the Christian Health Care Center (CHCC) Foundation Board of Trustees, he was confident that it would be a rewarding experience.
“Being a Foundation trustee has provided me with an opportunity to make a difference and to help promote the Center in the community,” says Mr. Whiteman, a six-year veteran of the board.
Mr. Whiteman became familiar with CHCC when his mother-in-law resided at CHCC’s Heritage Manor Nursing Home for four years.
“My wife Diana, who serves on the Foundation’s Events Committee, and I were always appreciative of the loving care my mother-in-law received at this great facility,” Mr. Whiteman says.
While his mother-in-law was a resident, Mr. Whiteman, an Executive Managing Director with Aon Benfield insurance company, was invited to join the Center’s Insurance Committee.
“My former co-worker, Tom Dykhouse, who currently is a Foundation trustee, invited me to join the committee in 2003. Becoming a member was a nice way to complement our support here,” Mr. Whiteman says. “Subsequently I met and worked with the administrative team, staff members, and other volunteers. That led to an invitation from Garry Dykhouse, the Foundation Chair, to join the Foundation board.”
As a trustee, Mr. Whiteman encourages support of the Center and its needs through donations, time, and prayer. Trustees also help ensure the orderly transaction of Foundation business and develop fund-raising activities and techniques.
“Diana and I donate to Christian Health Care Center because we believe in its mission and have witnessed first-hand how our contributions have enhanced the lives of the Center’s residents, patients, clients, and consumers,” Mr. Whiteman says. “We encourage others to tour the facility and see the wonderful care given by the staff. Without question, the passion and commitment of employees shines through.”
“CHCC has more than 100 years of success to be proud of, and Diana and I are happy to be part of such a great organization.”
