Volunteers Donate 160 Pumpkin Pies to Wayne Seniors

The residents of Summer Hill of Wayne, a Christian Health (CH) community, received pumpkin pies from Wayne Volunteers just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday. Each senior resident was given a fresh baked pumpkin pie to enjoy from Farms View farmer’s market and garden center in Wayne. The group, Wayne Volunteers, led by Wayne resident Kamala Anupindi, raised funds to purchase the pies and arranged to buy them at cost from Farms View. Pies were delivered to Summer Hill of Wayne and distributed to residents by Summer Hill of Wayne staff.

Wayne Volunteers is a dedicated group of more than 1,000 Wayne residents, led by Kamala Anupindi, who work tirelessly to support their neighbors in Wayne and the surrounding communities. “We are incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to serve and to help support these Wayne residents,” said Ms. Anupindi. The group has provided thousands of cooked meals through local restaurants to a variety of organizations throughout the pandemic and regularly donates to area food pantries and shelters with support from local businesses.

“We are so thankful for the outpouring of support that all of our communities have received over the past couple of months,” said Douglas A. Struyk, CPA, LNHA, President and CEO of CH. “This special holiday gift for our Summer Hill of Wayne residents from the generous Wayne community and a premier local family business is especially meaningful as we prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving a little differently this year. Good health is one of life’s greatest blessings and we hope all of our residents celebrate safely and remain healthy throughout the holiday season.”

Summer Hill of Wayne is an apartment community for adults 55 and older. The community is designed to meet the needs of active, independent seniors and offers affordable residences in an attractive and secure environment.
